What is Spot UV?

UV is an abbreviation of 'Ultra Violet' - UV varnishing is a process used in the printing industry for creating a top quality coating on printed items such business cards and brochures.

UV varnish gives a rich, luxurious finish to the area it is printed and can either be used to cover 100% of the print area, or specific small areas - this is known as Spot UV or spot varnishing.

Spot UV is used by designers to either draw attention to a particular aspect of the design or as part of the design itself and when used effectively adds a wonderful sophistication to printed material.

Spot UV serves to create a distinction between printed materials and conveys a quality that sets businesses and individuals apart from others.

Applying a Spot UV over a matt laminated, solid colour is particularly effective - the contrast of a dark blue for example with a light-absorbing matt laminate finish contrasts wonderfully with a highly reflective UV varnish.

Deluxe Spot UV business cards Businesses and individuals who stand out from their competition use Spot UV business cards to create the right first implression.

Our Spot UV business cards are full colour lithographically printed on both sides on a white 350gsm silk art board and measure 90 x 54mm.

The cards are matt laminated both sides and have a spot UV varnish to one side (up to 100% coverage).
